Theresa May's government continues to starve the NHS of the resources it needs to cope with a continuing cold winter, flu epidemic and an ageing population. A massive march of over 60,000 showed that people are fed up with this. John McDonnell, the shadow chancellor, highlighted reports that conservative Surrey – where the Runneymede and Weybridge constituency of the chancellor, Philip Hammond, is located – was facing a £100m cash crisis. "There needs to be an urgent change of direction in local government funding in this country. We need to see an end to a situation whereby Tory governments are using local councils like human shields as they continue to drive ahead with their failed austerity agenda.” Meanwhile, the conservatives are trying to hide the deep divisions over Brexit.
The meeting is free and open to all Momentum members and supporters of Jeremy Corbyn.
