Releasing their much anticipated seventh album under their own label 'Department-H', the boys are back, hitting you hard with what they do best; 15 slabs of super heavy, psychedelic, beat-laden, post-hip-hop audio. Written and produced by Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba, THERE WERE SEVEN takes you on an epic journey; from the undulating wobbly dub of "Welcome to Extravagance", through to the electronic takeover of "Mother Dove", and the manic spitting flute funk of "Take 'Em On".

Featuring collaborations with up-and-coming UK wordsmith, George the Poet, on "A Sad State of Affairs", the soulful vocalist Hannah Clive on "The Lost Boy", and super MC's from across the Atlantic - Twin Peaks and Teenburger.

The Scribes: The Scribes are a new wave hip hop four-piece formed in 2002 consisting of co-lyricists Ill Literate and Loki Steele, beatbox maestro Lacey, and turntablist Kenny Hectyc, whose unique talents have combined to make a much heralded sound quite unlike any other.

The Scribes debut, The Evolution EP, was released in 2004 on CD, Vinyl and iTunes through independent label Unsung Records, and the resulting tour saw them play Blade's album launch at Cargo in London, and headline events from The Metaponto Beach Festival in Italy to student unions and nightclubs across the UK.

The Scribes first full-length album, “The Sky is Falling”, was unleashed in 2008 to high praise from a variety of media, both local and national, including The Metro, BBC Radio, Music Week Magazine, 24-7 Magazine, Venue Magazine and Hip Hop Connection.

The album pushed the limits of hip hop to almost breaking point, both musically and lyrically, showcasing the group's trademark sound featuring traditional hip hop samplying as well as live instrumentation, a far cry from the stereotypical loop based “bling and gunz” fraternity.
