Summer Podcast Project: The Old Market Odyssey

Summer Podcast

The Old Market Odyssey is a 4 week podcast project, running from the 28th July to the 25th Aug, for young people who want to learn new skills in radio and music production, where they will be able to mix their own creative interpretation of Bristol's thriving Old Market area with real life stories gathered through research and interviews.

The project will suit young people with an interest in their local area: music or radio production and in creativity generally.  We are looking to recruit two groups of young 11-15 and 16-21 yrs old and  have allocated up to 7 spaces for each group.

Course leader, musician and sound editor David Thomas, will introduce participants to media professionals and help them gain practical and technical experience that is relevant to working within the music & media industry. These will include:

  • Planning a radio interview,
  • Interview techniques
  • Creating a original jingles/stings
  • Using microphone and equipment
  • Research methods
  • Recording on location
  • Pre & post production editing
  • Presenting
