  • Your answer will give evidence of whether or not you are the sort of person who plans ahead.

  • Don't be overly ambitious, but show that you are keen to learn new things, make a steady progression and take on more responsibility.

  • Remember that fewer and fewer employers expect all their employees to make a life-long career in their organisation, but also avoid saying anything that will make your employer think you are only using this job as a stop gap.

  • You may want to use this as an opportunity to outline any work related training you may have ambition to do. This could be a course or it could be shadowing a colleague in another role in the organisation.

  • This may be difficult to answer as you may not know exactly what career path you want to take. In this case, talk in more general terms about the type of job tasks that give you most satisfaction.

  • Be honest – if you are unsure about where you want to be, simply talk about your willingness to learn and consider any progression opportunities as and when they arise.
