  • CVs are still useful to keep a record which you can refer to when completing application forms

  • Some employers may still ask to see CVs, so make sure you keep yours up-to-date and clearly presented

  • 1-2 pages is standard, with a font size no smaller than Arial 10pt or Times New Roman 12pt

  • We recommend that you don't attach a photo of yourself - unless you're applying to be a model!

  • If you are applying for a particularly creative role, it may be worth attaching a postcard or business card of your work - but not a whole portfolio, unless requested

  • Similarly, when getting creative with typefaces, layout etc make sure you don't compromise the clarity or readability of your CV

  • Draw upon examples of skills you may have gained outside paid work - this could be through volunteering, hobbies or family life

  • We recommend to add names and contact details of referees if available, as opposed to putting "references available upon request".
